چکیده

The study of plasma accelerated ions is an important topic nowadays [1]. The acceleration of ions is produced for electric fields caused by plasma density gradients. So a diagnostic of the plasma density and temperature is necessary. It is frequently achieved using spectroscopic methods with the light from He-like and Li-like plasma ion transitions emitted in the soft x-ray region, 1-1000 Å wavelength range[2]. Most of these experiments were done without

Gas dynamic effects on formation of carbon dimers in laser-produced plasmas

We investigated the effect of helium and nitrogen pressures on the dynamics of molecular species formation during laser ablation of carbon. For producing plasmas, planar carbon targets were irradiated with 1064 nm, 6 ns pulses from an Nd:yttrium aluminum garnet laser. The emission from excited C2 and CN molecules was studied using space resolved optical time-of-flight emission spectroscopy and ...

Pressure Ionization and Line Merging in Strongly Coupled Plasmas Produced by 100-fs Laser Pulses

Timeand space-resolved extreme ultraviolet spectra of carbon plasmas, created with 100-fs laser pulses, are obtained with the novel technique of picosecond jitter-free streak-camera averaging. Spectroscopic diagnostics indicate electron densities and temperatures evolving from 1023 to 1021 cm23 and 80 to 50 eV, respectively, implying less than one particle in a Debye sphere at early times. The ...

Emission characteristics and dynamics of the stagnation layer in colliding laser produced plasmas

The expansion dynamics of ion and neutral species in laterally colliding laser produced aluminum plasmas have been investigated using time and space resolved optical emission spectroscopies and spectrally and angularly resolved fast imaging. The emission results highlight a difference in neutral atom and ion distributions in the stagnation layer where, at a time delay of 80 ns, the neutral atom...

Terahertz Radiation from Argon Clusters Irradiated by Intense Femtosecond Laser Pulses

The electromagnetic wave ranging from the millimeter wave to gamma ray is radiated from plasmas produced by irradiating solid and gas targets with high intensity optical pulses. Recently, several theoretical works have pointed out the possibility that laser produced plasmas radiate intense THz wave [1]. The laser produced plasma is one of the promising candidates for an efficient generator of t...

Time evolution of colliding laser produced magnesium plasmas investigated using a pinhole camera

Time resolved studies of colliding laser produced magnesium plasmas are performed using a pinhole camera. A ruby laser pulse is split into two beams using a movable glass wedge and focused onto a planar target or targets placed at 90° to each other. A gated pinhole camera provides an orthogonal view of the collision. Measurements with an aluminum filter allowed identification of soft x-ray prod...
